Thanks John, but I'm in the Sierras, just north-east of Bakersfield. It's a long, long way to the grocery store, much less an appliance place. LOL |

I don't know where you live in California but we just visited Buckeye Appliance on Saturday in Stockton and they have TONS of old stoves, many of them have not been refurbished yet but you can go pick one out and they will refurbish it for you. We were looking at an O & M and what was really unique and rather funny about it was, in addition to salt, pepper, flour, sugar, clock, and light, it also had a MIRROR on it just under the light! I guess it's so June Cleaver can fix her pearls before Ward pulls up in the driveway. They have lot's of Wedgewood and O & M in additon to Magic Chef, etc. their website is www.buckeyeappliance.com. Great people too! |

Re: the mirror on the stove: I think some O&M's had a device that allowed you to look in the mirror and see what was going on in the oven. Remember those "spy scope" things you used to get at Buster Brown shoes? Where a series of mirrors operated like a periscope so you could look over fences? (OK, maybe I'm the only one of "a certain age." The mirror you saw could be a remnant of that gadget. |

Jennifer -- Some O&M had those windows to check on the oven. That would be my guess too. |
