restoring a 2 family Arts and Craft home
I recently purchased a 1914 arts and craft style, 2 family home in Buffalo, NY. The house was in need of some TLC and hard work. It was buried in asbestos siding and aluminum trim. The interior had a lot of good wood work, but hidden under 5 college students' "things". What was most appealing is that the house faces Cazenovia park. A beautiful Olmstead city park. So the view is a so relaxing. (for a city street) I am in the process of restoring it. I hope you check out the pictures of the house before and in progress. I am looking for any advice, comments or suggestions you may have. Thanks, Keith http://www.flickr.com/photos/27664102@N05/

Re: restoring a 2 family Arts and Craft home
We have a 2-family similar to yours, built in 1928. It also had "potential" when we bought it in 2001. We've removed the siding to reveal the original claps, torn down tile ceilings, taken down paneling, taken up carpet/linoleum/plywood to reveal maple floors, and the list goes on. Seven years later, it's still a work in progress, but well worth the effort of taking it back in time. The best part? Having a tenant that pays most of the mortgage, so we can actually do all these projects!

I do, but I'd have to e-mail them to you (I don't have them where you could just link to them. Sorry).

Great color choices on the exterior. Keep up the good work!

That's gorgeous, and a pretty big project to undertake! I love the colors and the interior woodwork is beautiful. Perhaps you will have inspired others on your block to do the same! Carolyn

Very nice house!
That white color house next to yours looks SOOOOOOOOO boring in comparison.
It's amazing what some paint can do............
