Post First-time home buyer, unidentified 1929 bungalow
What a great site! I can see myself (and my hubby) visiting these boards from now on. We just purchased our first home (actually, we close on it tomorrow afternoon!) and it is a "craftsman style" bungalow, but it doesn't quite fit any of the floor plans we've found online.

It's roughly 1000 square feet with a full basement, asbestos shingles (original, we think) and a tight little floorplan. Three bedrooms, kitchen and bath; one large dining area/living room. The dormer is accessed through a hatch in the little hallway outside the bathroom, between two of the bedrooms; it's just ventilation but could possibly be finished into a little office or storage area.

I can email photos off the boards if anyone wants to give it a go...not sure if I have one that I can post directly to the board yet. :-)

Thanks,
Kelly in Vermont

It's a lovely bungalow with wonderful horizontal proportions. Looks a little like the bungalow next door to our house - a combination of colonial and prairie style. The porch bean and column detailing is very elegant.

Thanks for the compliments! There are a lot of appealing features to our new home, and I'm looking forward to exploring this site for renovation ideas and guidelines. If you (or anyone else, for that matter) has any thoughts on the "make or model" of our home, we'd appreciate the insights. I can't find it on any of the lists of kit homes from the era.
