Need window roller screen repair/replace
Does anyone know of someone who can repair/replace the old roller screens that slide up and down in the grooves inside the window jamb of the Craftsman french windows? We've been here in our 1914 Craftsman almost six years and I don't even know if the screens are locked in at the top of the window or not.Always knew something had to go there and never found out what until now! If they are there, they no doubt need repair. We need someone who knows about these screens. Thanks, Harris 323-874-3071

Pella still makes Rolscreens (their product name), so you might try talking to them. Best of luck.

Did you have any luck? We used Hollywood Roller Screens in Apple Valley, CA once before and they did a good job repairing our built-in roller screens, but when I called them for a second time, they took our roller screens to repair and never returned with them! If you've find someone else, please advise.

Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
In 2003 we called Hollywood Roller Screens on recommendation from a local contractor. He took about a dozen screens for repair and never returned them. It is a one man operation and he uses a phoney license number on his website, and uses a cell phone to screen his calls. One of the most frustrating experiences we had with contractors in the LA area. The Better Business Bureau gives him a D rating. DO NOT USE.

My Pella rollscreens are over 70 years old and are in fine working order. Pella still custom makes them. You could purchase new ones from them if needed.

Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
Robert Falsbot is a crook. Not only did he take our rollerscreens for repair, but our $900 deposit as well. We have called him over a dozen times. Does anyone have an address for him, home or place of business? Does anyone know of any other contractors in Los Angeles that replace and repair roller screens?

Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
Robert from Hollwyood roller screens is a crook and needs to be stopped. I just came across this website today after immense frustration by the fact that he took 52 screens from me in 2003 and a $2500 deposit. he returned about 1 out of every 5 calls for a while and would make appointments to bring them back and never show up. it sounds like enough of us have been taken by this guy that we should attempt some sort of lawsuit. it is now going to cost me over $16,000 to replace the screens he stole and I'm out my deposit. I cannot affort this and am very frustrated by this experience. Please email me at sharkworks@sbcglobal.net if you'd like to get involved in this. I have a friend whose a litigator and if there's enough of us against this guy it may be a worthwhile case.

Tashman hardware on Santa Monica boulevard replaces the screens. They aren't cheap but seem to have a good reputation. They won't fit the old grooves if you had the screens before so you'll have extra work there and as of last summer they didn't do repairs - only new. they're busy but seem like honest folks. i haven't used them yet but some of neighbors have and have been happy.

Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
Maybe the way to find the guy is to call up as a new customer who needs roller screen repair and/or wants to buy used roller screens. Perhaps the "new customer" that he goes out to meet is holding a summons to appear in court. He'll go to where he thinks there's a new sucker.

Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
Hi Craftsman Rollerscreen Friends... I can't believe it is two years since I did business with the infamous Robert Falzbot of Hollywood Rollerscreen...now out of business well over a year. I finally decided that this man either had a serious learning disability and/or he was a thief. My bad temper actually saved the day. I was livid when I told him that in my entire life I had never dealt with someone so irresponsible and unprofessional. He would up completing the job and only chargin me for half of it. I actually began to feel sorry for him and gave him a bunch of old baby stuff we had. He said his daughter was having a baby...never knew wha became of the guy. The reason I am writing now is because ....wouldn't you know it...one of my screen rollers stopped working. Any ideas for fixing it? I think TAshman screens in Hollywood might be a good bet. Re: Need window roller screen repair/replace
Any new recommendations on the roller screen repair front?
I'm working on a house in Los Feliz that needs extensive roller screen repair.
Thanks,

PS: Can we move this topic to Restoration? Thanks!
