Wow! That's a fabulous kitchen. You've done a wonderful job. I love the stove. What year is it? I've been wanting an old model for quite some time. Again, great job. Congrats! Sandra

Beautiful kitchen. How are you venting the stove? Thru the attic and out the roof or is it ventless? I'm having problems with that issue at my house and sure there is a simple answer. tanya

Very nice. We are just in the beginning stages of our kitchen rennovation. The old cabinets are all out, the new electrical is being done today, and we strip the felt off the flooring this weekend so the original wood floors can be refinished. Did you use soapstone countertops? We are using soapstone. Where did you get yours? Thanks, Jane

Great job. We did ours last summer and it's amazing what a workable kitchen can do for everyone. Especially nice to see someone keep with the original style of the house.

Our counters are soapstone. We got it from Soapstone West, http://www.soapstonewest.com/?referral=adwords+soapstonecalifornia The type we got was santa rita (I believe. It's mostly black (grey when not oiled) with occasional gray/green veins. Best of luck. It's always cool to watch the transformation. (the link with my photos has another link you'll find at the top of the page that shows our transformation. Some people might not notice it)

We believe the year of the stove is 1952. We were very lucky and get got it for $50 from someone who had it sitting on their lawn. Great price, but we did pay to have it repaired, probably about $1500 over the course of four years. Best of luck. It's a great stove, though I must admit the oven is small and the unit radiates heat.

The stainless steal hood we have over the stove vents out the roof.

Thanks for the info. Sometimes we end up spending more to fix an item that cost much less when purchased, but if one is happy with the results, I guess it's worth it. Needless to say, yours looks like a great stove. I hope to one day find the right one for my kitchen. Sandra

Re: Photos of a kitchen remodel (1923 bungalow)
I talked with Soapstone West but they don't handle Northern California. We will be getting ours through the Stone Center of California. I went and picked the slabs this morning, it is more heavily veined than the Santa Rita, with some green. I believe it is called Brazilian Eyes. Things are progressing slowly, last weekend we scraped the black paper off the wood floors, this weekend we patch all the holes in the walls and put in insulation where we can. We are not removing all the interior walls like you did. When done, we will have wood floors, white inset cabinets (some with glass), and soapstone countertops with subway tile backsplash. The hardware is from Horton Brass and the lighting fixtures are from rejuvination. Now if I can only decide on what color to paint the walls. I want a light green color, just need to find the right one. Restoration Hardware has some nice greens although there isn't one close by although i could make it to one if I really wanted to. I can't wait until we are done like you are, I need to figure out how to post photos. We also have a Mac, I see you did yours with a Mac, guess I need to figure out how.

I'm doing the same color scheme. My favorite greens are Gingko (by C2 paints), Potpourri Green and Pale Vista (Benjamin Moore), and Green Shores (Pratt & Lambert). The Gingko is nearly a dead on match for green paint on an old sash lift I found in my garage.

What did you put on the floor? Your kitchen is beautiful! You should be very proud of it. How do you like your faucet? I'm planning on getting the same one.

Very nice. Thank you for not using recessed / can lights. It's my pet peeve The pendant school house lights fit well in the space. Diane

Re: Photos of a kitchen remodel (1923 bungalow)
I checked out the C2 colors on their website and I think the ginko will be too light. The trim and cabinets are going to be a creamy white, Jane Powell who wrote Bungalow Kitchens suggested the color to me and I am sticking with that (my Magic Chef 100 is cream so I didn't want to have the cabinets be too white). I am looking at a color called Elise by Miller paints in oregon. Kelly Moore has a very similar color. I will buy a small container and paint the wall to see what I think. I originally wanted a very pale green like ginko but when I hold it up to the cabinet/trim color it isn't enough of a contrast. We are suppose to start painting this weekend so I had better figure it out. So many decisions to make and then you just hope it will look nice when it's done. Good news is the floors are in good shape, it will cost us $800 to have them sanded and refinished and I had alloted $4K just in case they needed to be replaced. So. . . we are 3K ahead although I know it will get eaten up somewhere.

Love it! It's absolutely beautiful! Can I ask where you went for your cabinets? We will probably be doing a kitchen remodel in the next two years, and the style you went with is similar to what we want. Great job....love the soapstone too!
