Any detailed drawing or specs on a built-in breakfast nook for a 4 x 6 area? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mike_in_Iowa has some original blueprints of his bungalow, including a breakfast nook, posted on his website.

Here's the blueprint
The blueprint is here

<br>The main page for our new house is here

<br>The nook had the right hand side removed in 1948, which does make it much easier to walk into the kitchen from the back door. We have two chairs we'll put on that side of the table.
<br>
<br>While I'm having trouble thinking what useful thing we could put in the drawer under the remaining bench, I'm sure my daughters will use it for bread crusts.

Re: Built-In Breakfast Nook?
A recent issue of Fine Homebuilding had a discussion of breakfast nooks in one of the regular columns. It gave some principles of deciding on dimensions, heights, and so on. I think it was about four issues ago, but it might be an issue or two farther back. (I'm still trying to get caught up on my reading).

Re: Built-In Breakfast Nook?
I recently bought the book-
<br>"Shop Drawings for Craftsman Interiors" by Robert W. Lang
<br>I has detailed drawings for a breakfast nook which we plan to utilize when the re-do our kitchen this summer.
<br>
<br>I bought it on line somewhere, probably Amazon. Acutally, this book is filled with measured drawings done from acutal A&C houses. From doors to trim it covers a lot of interior woodworking.

Re: Built-In Breakfast Nook?
So, you got your dimensions from a book? I was a bit concerned about the clearances on your sketch (BTW, did you get my e-mail with the plans? Or were they too big? I didn't get a bounce).
<br>
<br>Thanks for the info on the plan, Mike!

Re: Built-In Breakfast Nook?
It's a great book, and anyone who is going to be doing some major reconstruction or restoration of trim or built in cabinets should probably buy it, if just for the background info.

No, I did not get the e-mail from you. Wonder what went wrong?.......I'm anxious to see what you sent.

Re: Built-In Breakfast Nook?
There was an article in Am Bungalow, some time ago (I will dig it out) which had an article about kitchen breakfast nooks and offered several designs. I had a kitchen designer at a custom cabinet shop work off of that to create a breakfast nook and table. You are welcome to my full scale blueprints if you like the design.
