Post bungalow in movie 'Secretary'
I'm looking for still photos/location information/whatever-facts-I-can-get on/of the bungalow used in the movie "Secretary".
I really like this bungalow's - well, everything...but, in particular its porch; I want to make it - and this is going to be kind of wierd to discribe - a kind of 'porch-on-a-porch' for the new bungalow we are planning now and building soon.
I'm sure you have all noticed the use by film makers of bungalows...everything from the original 'Back to the Future' to 'Kill Bill' to TVs 'Desperate Housewives, not to mention just about every commercial on TV that has a house in it (the most-recent being the pizza "Dip" commercial)...all have fantastic bungalows in them. In fact, I think it would be fun for A.B. readers to have a friendly competition and nominate the movie that each of us thinks has the best bungalow in it..leading to a decision by magazine staff of "The Best Bungalow in a Movie Award" - cumlminating every year, just b4 the Academy Awards???
Seriously, this ("Secretary") is an adult movie, but, if you haven't seen it, treat yourself and rent it at your video store. Fast Forward through it to see the interior and exterior (these come mostly near the end of the film) shots. Unfortunately for someone like myself who wants to see more photos of this house, it is just background for the film.
So...if anyone knows anything about the house used for filming this movie, I'd very much appreciate hearing about it, here, or through an email you can send to bluedune@triton.net.
Rick

Rick,

I can't tell you, but when I saw the movie, it felt very South Pasadena to me. Maybe someone at Pasadena Heritage knows?

I can tell you that the lawyer's office was shot at the Huron Substation in Cypress Park:

I would nominate the house in the movie "old School". Awesome example of a Craftsman.

didn't see "old school", but i did see "secretary", and i honestly don't remember a bungalow...though i fell asleep towards the end, so maybe i missed it...

two movies that i think have amazing houses in them are "a river runs through it," and "woman under the influence." in "river", they use a fairly plain, post-victorian style exterior with an absolutely gorgeous, authentic (though probably way beyond a minister's means) stickley-filled interior. in "woman," they use an amazing craftsman house, but show it as a working class, down at heel sort of place, which is probably exactly what it would have been back in the 70's. if that house is still standing, it's probably worth a gazillion dollars today...

Finally...some feedback. I Googled Pasadena Heritage (didn't know what it is) & sent them an inquiry - thanks for the suggestion..if I get a Reply, I'll post it here. Being a Newbie here, it appears that this message board is not heavily trafficed. Too bad. Do any of you frequent another message board?

I think that we all end up in the above boards like Interiors, Exteriors and the Restoration. I don't think most of us are into societies. Try posting this topic above in restoration board, betting it will get visited more often.
