concrete foundation & laminate wood floors
I live in a 13 year old home built to look like a bungalow with lots of stained wood trim, huge stone fireplace, etc. The foyer is gorgeous with the wood trim and opens into the dining room-also with lots of woodwork. The previous owner had carpet in the dining room and ugly tile in the foyer. I want to replace the flooring with wood or laminate wood or even vinyl wood planks. However, in our area, houses are built on concrete foundations. I'm having trouble finding products that don't look "Cheap" next to all that trim work. I'm intrigued with laminates and vinyl wood planks (Nafco) because of the extreme durability. Anyone have any experience living with these floors? Do they look nice?

<br>We just put laminate (the snap together type that requires no glue) in our basement. The previous owners had carpet down there. I can say that it looks great. We went with a very light maple color so it wouldn't look too dungeonous. Cleanup is a breeze, just dust mop and damp mop when needed. The installation was literally a "snap" - very easy to do. My only complaint is the way it sounds when you walk on it. It definitely does not sound like wood, or concrete, or carpet. It's weird I know but it's just one of my little quirks. I would recommend it if you want something that will last a long time, is easy to install (and remove when you want a change), and doesn't cost a lot of money.
