Post Laura Wilder prints
Has anyone decided on an economical way to frame the Laura Wilder prints that are included for American Bungalow subscribers this year? If so, please share your ideas. I'm thinking about Dard Hunter Oak Park frames.

I can't afford the expensive custom frames, so I just went to Michael's and bought some unfinished frames. I am going to stain them all the same stain I will be using when I refinish the stairway. I found some nice wide frames with square details that are compatible with the period.

If I lived closer to my father, I would ask him to make some frames for me out of the oak of a large tree on his property he lost during Hurricaine Rita. It was about 4' diameter at the base. He had some of the wood quartersawn for his future use, and gave the rest of the wood in exchange for removing the tree. He already made me one large frame for a Maxfield Parrish print.

I recently purchased a Laura Wilder print, and ordered an inexpensive quarter sawn oak frame off a vendor on eBay. Cost me $20 for the frame and a few dollars more for shipping. It's not anything fancy, but for the price, I was very satisfied with the product. The store name on eBay was Custom Framing Factory Outlet. They carry a variety of sizes. Here's a link to the print (below):

Beautiful frame, deltarider99. Did it come finished? I'll have to check out the store.

It did indeed. They offer two different finishes. The other has a bit more red in it.

Thanks for the eBay source. They look like a great value. I just ordered 4 frames for the set of prints!

Laura Wilder's prints are her own original designs. For the block prints, she hand carves a separate block for each color, then inks and prints the blocks, one at a time, by pressing the paper on the inked block with a wooden spoon. Laura Wilder is an illustrator and printmaker based in Rochester, New York. She holds the coveted Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan designation..

That's a beautiful frame you've got deltarider99. I'm also wondering whether I should buy frames or not because the cost is a bit problem to me. I also like Laura Wilders but I don't really like the price. I'm thinking about making replicas of them, though the quality may not be good but it has the looks.

To the original poster: did you end up framing your prints? Do you have a photo? Did you get a mat?

I'd really like to frame mine as I think they'd look fabulous in my stairwell but as usual, I am procrastinating on making the decision on what actually to do.
