The Henry Levy House

One of the few houses designed by Los Angeles architect, Homer Glidden in 1914, the Henry Levy house is an outstanding example of a two and a half story Craftsman shingle style house with Tudor influences. Henry Levy, brother in law of Achille Levy (founder of Bank of A. Levy),was a bean broker and shipper. The 5,200 sqft, 5 bedroom, 4 bath home is very spacious, spreading over three lots, with many of the old trees and gardens on the property- including the original outdoor fireplace made from rocks from the Conejo grade. The second story exterior is shingled and the first story has medium clapboard siding. Wood trim under the front gable and roof shingles add to the Tudor influence. Notched beams under the eaves, the use of brick on porch columns and chimney, lend a Craftsman feeling.

The interior features the extensive use of hardwood and both fireplaces are adorned with Batchelder tiles- used in many houses from the Arts and Crafts era in Southern California. Original hardware throughout the home, pocket doors, intercom, laundry chute, stunning upgraded kitchen, butler’s pantry and pastry pantry. A garage, shop, garden room, sport court, pergola and more reside on the grounds. Mills Act application is in process. Offered for $1,450,000.
